Fred Miller Custom Woodworks "Established 1980"
I have 26 years of experience at custom woodworking, which allows me to crunch out the details of the most complicated industry prototypes for wooden case goods. Considerable experience in jig building allows me to run small-scale production runs of 20 units & up at very competitive prices.
Recent works include
WOODEN BRAKE SHOES for a double drum lift used in the mining industry.
Your costing goes like this
1 - The developement of a prototype ia a quoted cost to you.
It is also accompanied by an estimated cost for production units after developement. Typically prototype developement costs exceed production unit costs.
While producing the prototype carefull tracking of production times only (via stop watch) ensure the lowest possible cost to the customer.
2 - Once the prototype is complete your estimated cost for production units are adjusted + or - according and firmed up to a quote. Typically the minimum number of units ordered at any given time is 20 units.
A program of Post dated Purchase orders is the best way to control the cost of material increases that one typically sees in the commodity based lumber business.
We are small, extremely efficient and we will work with you to meet your needs.
The photos below display my latest endeavor in both prototype development & small-scale production for a Toronto based company. The wooden tub stands where developed solely from concept photos. Each stand had to be fitted to each tub with all the proper radius development for the laminate bends, clearances for drains and many other challenging details to set these tub stands into production. The first run was 100 units. 20 units of 5 different models
