The drawers shown directly below are inset flush with the surface of the face frame. Most modern cabinets have overlay doors set onto casework without a face frame at all. Face frames are an important part of the stuctural integrity of any cabinet. The cock-bead mould surrounding the drawer in this case is milled directly onto the face frame. This method keeps the bead mould recessed slightly below the surface.

In this example the cock-bead mould is milled separately and added to the face frame. This raises the moulding above the face frame surface giving added dimension. In other situations the cock-beading is added directly to the edges of the drawer front.
