Butternut Dressing Vanity

This Reproduction Butternut Vanity was created from scratch after refurbishing an old vanity that had been left in the drive shed … stuck in the ... Mud (I hope). The cabrioles were rotten and had to be replaced along with several other repairs to bring it back to life. Before delivering the rebuild I drew the top curve of the Wing Backed Mirror onto an old bench top and kept one cabriole that was mostly intact. From those two design elements and a sharp memory this reproduction was created for my eldest Daughter.

Materials: Butternut, Pine secondary wood, Brass hardware.

Creating the Cabriole Leg

An intricate task of layout, sawing, tape the waste back on the leg and saw some more.... followed up by hours of rasping filing and sanding.
